Beginning of the New Term
We hope that you have all had a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday despite the ongoing challenges.
The new year brings with it fresh hopes and with the rollout of the COVID vaccination programme we all hope this will be the turning point and the start of better times to come.
Following recent government announcements, we now know that physical school cannot open as planned on the scheduled 7th January. At the time of writing, the current proposed start date for all schools in Greece is now Monday 11th January (although this is still to be confirmed). This means that (at least) the first two days of teaching, Thursday 7th and Friday 8th January, will be carried out online using the same timetable and format that was used before the holiday.
As we receive further information and clearer directives from the Ministry of Education, we will inform you of any necessary operational changes that we may need to introduce in order to keep your children safe at school.
Currently, the plan is for the canteen to begin serving pre-ordered meals for pupils (Nursery – Year 11) one week after the first day in school (ie. if we start on Monday 11th January then the canteen will start on Monday 18th January). In the meantime, a packed lunch will be required. Canteen for pupils in Years 12 and 13 will operate in the same way before school closure. After school clubs/activities will also begin one week after the opening of physical school. However, peripatetic music lessons will begin as soon as children are back.
For those pupils in Years 11 and 13, we fully expect to proceed with the upcoming mock exams as planned and as was communicated to those pupils before Christmas.
We look forward to welcoming your children back to physical school in the near future.
Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2021!
