Book Drive for Chalandri Public School Library

13 March 2023 Categories Junior

Dear Parents,

We are a group of Year 10 students who, as coursework for our IGCSE Global Perspective course, have selected to do a project on how poverty affects education. Through this project, we aim to improve educational opportunities in our community starting by funding, constructing, and equipping a library in a public school in the Municipality of Chalandri.

We will host an inter-house book donation competition in which students of all year groups are urged to participate. There will be four boxes labelled according to each house at the entrance of the Junior School in which you can drop off your donations. There will also be a designated box for Year 1 and Year 2 pupils who are not yet assigned houses to offer their donations. The competition will last from Monday 13th March until Friday 7th April, and the winning house will be announced and rewarded with house points on the first week back at school.

An assembly will be held in the Junior School on Friday 10th March in which we will present a short slideshow to all Junior School pupils. Our presentation will include information regarding our project, our aims, and details about the inter-house competition.

Since we are donating to a Greek state school, the books that they are most in need of are beginner-level English and Greek books – all types of books are welcome, providing they are in good condition.
