Book Presentation

7 March 2023 Categories Junior

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to inform you that as part of our ongoing efforts to introduce our pupils to Greek literature, we had the Greek author Giannis Diakomanolis visiting our school yesterday to present his book The Howl of the Wolves to Year 6. The presentation was a great success and we hope that our pupils enjoyed learning more about Greek culture and literature.

A brief summary of the book: Two recently arrived children in a village attempt to solve a mystery and they realise that it is not a legend, but a shocking story of love, hate, and revenge, and completely true. Will they be able to reach the end, or is the curse so strong that it will trap them too?

During the presentation Year 6 watched three 5-minute videos of a chapter of Part A of the book, where pupils took on the leading roles. The author suggested a different approach to the story but also an artistic proposal after the presentation.

We believe that reading literature from different cultures is an important part of our pupils’ education, and we encourage you to support their learning by purchasing this book. The book presented by the author is now available for purchase at a cost of 8 euros. If you would like to order a copy of the book, please send the amount in a sealed envelope to your child’s Greek teacher, with your child’s name and “Greek book” written on the outside. The deadline for ordering is Friday 10th March.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.
