Covid Case Year 12
17 April 2021
We would like to inform you that we received information last night about a confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at Campion. The last day the infected person was in school was Thursday 15th April.
It should be noted that the person tested negative with the self-test on Thursday but was found positive with a PCR test on Friday night.
The learning bubble associated with this case is Year 12.
Having sought advice from EODY, children in Year 12 should remain home isolated for 14 days. Therefore, from Monday 19th April, Year 12 pupils will revert to online learning. Campion campus will remain open for pupils in Year 11 and Year 13.
Deep cleaning and disinfecting of the exposed locations at Campion have been completed, according to EODY’s and Ministry of Health and Education guidelines.
Whilst we feel the likelihood of onward transmission is low, we would like to remind you the most common symptoms of Covid-19 infections are cough, fever and shortness of breath. Muscle aches, sore throat and fatigue are also common. Symptoms usually develop between 2-14 days after last exposure (hence the need to isolate for 14 days). Therefore, the advice from EODY and Campion is:
Keep your child at home until Friday 30th April (please note that this is Easter week).
We recommend that your child should self-isolate during this time and not mix with other children.
Monitoring your child for symptoms and performing temperature checks at least twice daily for 14 days.
Consult with your child’s physician for evaluation and need for testing if your child develops symptoms.
Due to medical privacy laws, we are unable to release the names of the infected individual with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.
We ask everyone to continue to take the necessary precautions to remain healthy. Thank you for your cooperation as we work through unprecedented challenges.
