Holiday Greetings from the PRC

18 December 2020 Categories Junior, Senior

Dear Parents,

As the holiday season is progressing, bringing us soon to the end of 2020, we would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your families health, peace and happiness. This year has certainly been an extraordinary one for all of us; the PRC would normally find itself in the middle of its busiest period, organizing important events such as the Christmas Fair.

Christmas festivities may have been held back but the Christmas spirit certainly has not. Now, more than ever, it is important to focus on what we can do, rather than what we cannot and to put into practice the motto #campioncares. During lockdown, the PRC put together a charity program to support a number of organizations in the academic year 2020-2021, starting with the collection and donation of toys, books and clothing to the special education Public School of Elefsina this past week. The school houses 60 children with disabilities from the area of Eastern Attica and due to the school closure, the collection effort was coordinated with our PRC Members.

A similar activity will take place in January when schools open, so that the whole school may participate. The PRC will collect clothes and goods for YEM Help, an organization dedicated to helping migrant families. As the collection will take place after the holidays, it would be a great opportunity for you to start sorting out some items during the break.

In addition to the above, the PRC Members have voted to financially support the following organizations: Agios Christoforos, a charitable organization for children and families of patients with Myopathy and Aegean Rebreath, an NGO dedicated to the protection of our precious Aegean Sea. These two initiatives will be in the center of our fundraising activities this year.

In order to make positive change happen, the PRC needs the help of the Campion Community more than ever. With our most important fundraising events having been cancelled due to the pandemic, this year your contribution could come also from the comfort and safety of home.

After our safe return to school, each Campion family will receive a Money Box to keep at home and collect money to support our chosen charities and to highlight to our children the importance of caring.

Each Box will be handcrafted with recycled paper by SHEDIA, a Social Enterprise that supports the homeless and people who have experienced extreme social exclusion by teaching them this creative upcycling method and offering them job opportunities in order to reintegrate into society. The purchase of the boxes will be funded by the PRC, providing financial support to SHEDIA’s initiatives and thus completing a full circle of care which will include people in various situations of need and the environment.

You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Money Box project, as well as about the various organizations that will be supported, in January. We are confident that you and your family will embrace the initiatives and demonstrate – once again – how much #campioncares.

With our warmest regards and wishes for the holidays.
