CAS Karkinaki Project

Last year members of the Senior School Volunteers’ Club organised a team with the goal to raise money to purchase an advanced microscope for the Division of Hematology-Oncology of Aghia Sophia Children’s Hospital.

To achieve our goal we organised a number of activities starting with the Christmas Bazaar where we persuaded visitors to make a small donation to our cause. We also organised a Valentine’s bake sale and a Valentine’s dance for Lower School pupils and we worked closely with ‘Campionknights’, volunteer pupils from Years 7-11, who organised a Valentine’s-themed gift sale.
The whole Campion community embraced our project. We got all the support we asked for from our teachers, including the proceeds of the Staff Concert. Parents and alumni also did their best to support as in as many ways as possible.

As a result, we are very pleased because we managed to achieve our goal and the new microscope has helped doctors to upgrade the hospital’s technical infrastructure and, through this, improve the level of daily care that the hospital provides to young children with cancer.

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped us to achieve our goal.
