Online Parent-Teacher meetings
As we approach half term I am sure that many of you are wondering what will happen with Parent-Teacher meetings in a time when the safety of the Campion community is of paramount importance.
For those of you familiar with the Senior School, it will be clear that we cannot continue to hold Parent-Teacher Meetings in the same fashion as in previous years owing to the safety constraints required to ensure we are Covid-19 compliant. Having researched various solutions, we have decided to hold our Parent-Teacher meetings (PT meetings) virtually through a platform called “School Cloud”.
Having carefully weighed the advantages and disadvantages of the various options, it was felt that video appointments via School Cloud would provide the most convenient and equitable way for parents to hold a discussion with teachers around how their child has settled back into school and what progress they are making in class. School Cloud also makes possible the scheduling of appointments.
Therefore, the main purpose of this letter is to outline the dates and times of the planned PT meetings, with a proviso that we will reflect on the success (or otherwise) of each meeting and look to adapt and improve where needed.
- Each online Parent-Teacher meeting will be scheduled from 4.00pm to 6.30pm (as opposed to the published 4.00pm to 6.00pm).
- Each appointment online will last a maximum of five minutes as has been the case with face-to-face PT meetings.
- Each video appointment online is securely encrypted to ensure the conversation remains between parent and teacher. School Cloud is GDPR compliant.
- If a parent is unavailable to attend (virtually) on the designated day then they can contact the Year Tutor and request to attend on a different evening (as has always been the case).
The dates below replace those published on the printed School Calendar.
|1st Term||2nd Term|
|Wednesday 21st October – Year 9||Wednesday 10th February – Years 7 & 11|
|Wednesday 4th November – Years 7 & 11||Wednesday 17th February – Years 8 & 13|
|Wednesday 11th November – Years 8 & 13||Wednesday 3rd March – Years 10 & 12|
|Wednesday 18th November – Years 10 & 12||Wednesday 17th March – Year 9|
This is a new system to us all and I am sure there may well be some teething problems but we will work through them together for the benefit of your child. A more detailed letter outlining the procedure of how to book appointments will be sent to the respective year groups prior to the date of the PT meeting. However, as always, if you have a concern regarding the progress of your child, please do not wait until the PT meeting to raise the issue. Please be proactive and contact your child’s Year tutor/class teacher.
