Recent ISI Inspection
Dear Parents,
As I am sure you know, we invited a team of inspectors from ISI to scrutinise many aspects of our school last week. They spent four days looking at various types of evidence to obtain an informed opinion about our practices. This included:
- Results from parent questionnaires (thank you to those that responded)
- Results from pupil questionnaires
- Results from staff questionnaires
- Examination results
- Lesson observations (the inspectors visited in excess of 130 lessons across the school)
- Observations of extra-curricular activities
- Observations of break/lunchtimes, start and end of the school day
- Discussions with pupils
- Discussions with staff members
- Scrutiny of pupils’ work
- Analysis of school policies
- Meetings with specific members of staff
- Meetings with trustees
The inspection was broken down into two parts:
- The school’s compliance with the standards for British Schools Overseas
- The quality of the school’s work, focusing on the two key outcomes for pupils:
- The quality of pupil’s learning and achievement
- The quality of the pupils’ personal development
While I have received initial feedback from the inspectors, the results of the inspection remain confidential for the time being until the full written report is published in about five weeks’ time. Nevertheless, I can say, we were pleased with the inspection, happy with the outcome, and are very much looking forward to sharing the full written report in due course and the inspectors were certainly full of praise towards our pupils.
Despite being a term of only five weeks in length, much is packed into this short space of time and I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming events such as Parent-Teacher meetings, Arabic Culture Day, Greek Dance Evening, Spring Concert, Sports Day, etc.
Thank you for your continued support.
Wishing you and your child(ren) a productive three weeks.
Best Regards,
Mike Henderson
