Years 8-13 start of January term

8 January 2021 Categories Senior

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year.

Whilst my letter on Monday was optimistic that we would be welcoming all children back to physical school on Monday 11th January, sadly this is not the case. The changing epidemiological data in Greece means that the Government have now decided that we are only able to welcome Year 7 Pupils back to physical school. This means that:

  • Year 7 pupils return to physical school on Monday 11th January.
  • Teaching for pupils in Years 8-13 remains online. We do not currently have an anticipated date of return.

Due to the fact that Nursery – Year 7 will be in school and following Covid protocols, namely a staggering of breaks, online teaching will revert to the previous timings i.e. there will be no extended lunch break but will be three 20-minute breaks instead. This is necessary as we have some members of staff that teach classes in both sections.

Timing of lessons

We are still working towards Year 11 mock exams beginning in school on Monday 18th January and Year 13 mock exams beginning on Monday 1st February.  Should circumstances require us to deviate from our original plan then I will let you know as soon as possible.

As we return from the holiday, it is inevitable that some of our families will have travelled both within Greece and internationally. All staff and children are expected to follow published governmental regulations before returning to school. As far as the school is aware, the latest advice for anyone arriving from abroad is “anyone entering Greece will be required to quarantine (self-isolate) for seven days upon arrival and travellers will need to undertake a further PCR test at the end of their period of self-isolation”. However, the school stresses that it is your responsibility to ensure that you are following the relevant travel advice for your own family circumstances in order to keep the school community safe.  Please inform your child’s year tutor if this is the case.

The school will be back in touch when we know additional information. Wishing you and your family good health and a successful 2021.

Kind regards,

Mike Henderson
