For over fifty years Campion has been the leading school for international education in Athens. The school was founded in 1970 by Mr and Mrs Thomas Campion Shortell in response to a growing demand within Athens for high-quality education in an English speaking environment. Named after the renowned 16th century English scholar, Saint Edmund Campion, its name fully encapsulates the vision the founders had of the school as an academic beacon for anglophiles in Athens, which it remains to this day.
Campion has a warm, welcoming community made up of local and international families. It is a community whose members care for each other and support one another. Children feel safe at Campion, love their school life and fully embrace the wonderful breadth of opportunities available to them. This well-rounded education ensures that pupils leaving Campion are exceptional young adults who have formed bonds and friendships that last a lifetime.
The school is situated in the green belt of Pallini, with easy road access from most parts of Athens. It offers a healthy pollution-free space for children from Nursery to Year 13. The purpose built campus is extensive, offering exceptional facilities that enable Campion to offer every pupil the opportunity to explore academia, The Arts, sports and philanthropy. These opportunities are enhanced by an outstanding teaching body that fully embraces the notion that an excellent education goes beyond the classroom and is in everything a school does for its pupils.
While Campion is not a selective school, it enables its pupils to achieve outstanding examination results. In 2020 our pupils achieved an A*- C pass rate of 96% in their IGCSE exams, and 100% of our pupils achieved their International Baccalaureate Diploma with an average score of 37 points. These great results reflect the high standards of teaching and learning Campion prides itself in from Nursery to The International Baccalaureate Diploma programme.
The Campion community is rightly proud of its school, and I am honoured to be its Headmaster. I hope this website will give you an idea of the special place that Campion is. However, the pictures you see and words you read cannot compare to visiting the school and soaking up its atmosphere and unique character. I therefore encourage you to visit the school in order to truly understand what makes a Campion education so valuable. I look forward to meeting you then.
